Is Your Boat Ready for Winter?

Minnesota winters can be hard on marine motors if they are not properly prepped before the cold and deep-freeze strikes. At Mike’s Marine & Small Engine Repair we can make sure your boat is ready for the off-season. When you bring your boat or pontoon to us for winterization services, we will:

  • Inspect the propeller shaft, checking for fishing line and other damaging debris
  • Check for rust and water damage in the gear case
  • Perform engine compression / pressure tests to locate possible leaks
  • Replace filters
  • Lubricate lower units and all grease points
  • Clean the carburetor
  • Start, run, and apply fuel stabilizer to the engine

For outboard motors we also connect your engine to our fuel tank mixed with stabilizer and we run this for 10 minutes.

For stern drives we also run your engine for 20 minutes to fog it, shut the engine down, and drain all water.
